Free leather bushcraft pouch without special expensive tools

Are you also tired that everything must cost so much?

Well, here a way to make your favorite pouch without any cost, how?

Follow my steps:

First you find a old leather sofa that people has thrown away on the dump, then with a sharp knife you cut carefully the still good and usable leather of that sofa.

When you come back home dry the leather if necessary or clean it well and remove all old cracked paint with a sharp knife, I made once a half moon knife from an old table saw blade, but any metal thing that you can scrape with will do or even a steel brush.

Well now you have your own stock of leather to make your own nice creations.

The pouch:

Draw as close to the edge a circle of the anted pouch size in my case I used a big plate that had a diameter of 32 cm.

Then about two centimeters of the edge you mark the holes for the cord, I used round object that had a diameter of 2cm and placed that on the edge this way I had everything on the same distant all the way around.

Then I needed a holepunch, I didn’t have one, so I used an old screw bit holder and filed a sharp edge on the end that had the opening for the screw bits, I still can use it for the screw bits and voila the perfect size hole punch.

I used a self-healing mat and a small plank under that, to punchout the holes and as you can see it worked as a charm.

Then I threated the cleaned side of the letter with waterproofing beeswax and massaged that in till it became smooth. So, I can store dry tinder in there or other things I want. I didn’t have leather cord and didn’t wanted to cut it from the recovered leather, instead I used paracord That I melted to a meat skew to make it easy to lead it through the holes.

For now, I made a stopper from a wooden peg, but I will soon replace that with a disc from an antler, and I used a thick piece of leather that I had lay around to make a slide stopper of course you are free to use what you want and have to make it as beautiful as you can.

Finally, on the end of the two ends of paracord I laid a simple overhand knot to thigh it all together.

Voila, a leather pouch that cost me nothing. Try it and have fun!
